“Learning and teaching should not stand on opposite banks and just watch the river flow by; instead, they should embark together on a journey down the water. Through an active, reciprocal exchange, teaching can strengthen learning and how to learn.”

-Loris Malaguzzi

Welcome!

Welcome to our classroom! I'm looking forward to my fourth year at the Kennedy School. I started my teaching career 9 years ago in NYC, and in addition to 1st grade, I have had experiences in both kindergarten and 3rd. I am also active in the education space, not only within school leadership, but policy work at the district and state level.

On a personal level, I am a firm believer of creating a joyful, inclusive classroom that makes school meaningful for all kinds of learners. As much as possible, I get inspiration from progressive teaching approaches and philosophies- Responsive Classroom, Montessori, and Reggio Emilia. I strive to make the classroom a second home to students and families, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have ideas or concerns.

Finally, this year we are very lucky to have Ms. Carolyn Lei join our classroom as a student teacher. Carolyn will be with us throughout the first semester.

Let's have an incredible year together!
